Red Bull Wake of Steel is a unique concept. One the world has not seen anywhere, but in Linz. A 65m long water-loaded and half-sunk cargo ship has been constructed to offer the ultimate wakeboarding battleground. The inside oft he ship holds a 150 square meter pool. In addition to that, there are a 30m long ramp, 2 kickers, 20m of pipe and one 12m iron girder mounted to the exterior of this extraordinary obstacle. The highest point is 4,5m above the water level. A mobile double-masted lift system will offer the competitors countless opportunities to pull off plenty of outrageous tricks.
The best of the best Sixteen of the world’s best wakeboarders were handpicked for this exclusive event. In groups of eight, they will fight for their place in the knock out stage. Only the top five will advance to the so-called superfinal, where everybody starts at zero again. Only the most consistent and best rider has a chance to win the Red Bull Wake of Steel.
Favorite wins at the third edition of Red Bull Wake of Steel In 2013 Dominik Hernler (AUT) stunned his home crowd with his trick portfolio and won. This year Daniel Grant (THA) impressed the judges the most with his highly challenging tricks and finished on top of the podium. Nico von Lerchenfeld (GER) finished second with Julian Cohen (USA) completing the podium on the third position.
